Mens Movement

Why Men’s Movement?

The idea of Men’s Movement came out of the need of balance, inclusion, body image, aging, healing, spirituality, but also from the need of belonging to a community, a safe environment totally inclusive.

What does it mean being MAN?

A man is a whole human being, integrating all bodies: physical, emotional, mental, etherical and spiritual; as well as both sides of the brain :logical side of the brain related to masculinity, as well the creative side of the brain related to femininity.    A man has feelings, emotions, is vulnerable, and is compassionate.

The idea of being a man in society got distorted. Many men do not feel energetically welcomed in the over masculinized gyms nor in the over feminized yoga studios. Men are more than the idea of “caveman” or “sport dudes”. The balance of masculine and feminine is missing. Men are men no matter where they fall in the masculine or feminine spectrum, as women are women falling in the same map of femininity and masculinity. Why not see all men as men, no matter what society identifies an individual as? Before accepting any identity given from outside, you must accept being a man physically and pshycologically!

Another reason for the men’s group is body image. All of us, living in today's world, are bombarded with the “right” body image, having everyone chasing an idealistic image of what man should look like. There are no shoulds or woulds how one should look like! Healthy means balanced. In order to change your body look from outside, it is important to change your idea of the body from inside, not just through food and work out, but through compassion and  understanding of what are your body capacities in the present moment. Start your journey from the point of view of compassion and understanding of yourself as a whole.

There is the need of a safe environment, where men are not judged, but welcomed. No matter where one is in his comfort zone, this group is created with the idea of being a safe ground for all participants, where one can feel open to express who he is.

Belonging. How many of us felt the need of a place where they felt they belong? I am referring to a space where men come together with other men and simply be MEN, outside of any  societal constraints, judgment or identification. As we look throughout the history, we see women, as well as men, joining separate groups with the idea of a gender bond, a safe and sacred space, where they are able to participate in ceremonies of initiations, celebrations of a member, teachings etc.

In this society, individualism/uniqueness becomes more and more of a hindrance than a modality of going forward. There is the need, at this time, for an environment where men can share a safe and sacred time together.

What We Offer

Thoughtful Movement Class

Before we go any further, I want you to question yourself: what does it mean to be a man, how do you see your body or better said are you comfortable with your body, are you gentle with yourself or just with others, are you compassionate towards yourself or just towards others?

This class is designed for all men who want to connect with their bodies through movement, to accept themselves as they are, to grow, to be part of a community, to connect with each other, share, and be vulnerable.

All men are welcome in this group. There is no judgment or gender identification. The class is a slow movement, anyone can follow, without a goal set. It was created with the idea of being present in your body NOW, instead of reaching a set goal. By not having the mind set on a goal, there is the opportunity of being present, feeling your body, its movements, where and how far it can go and seeing oneself with compassion.

Your body is your teacher. The person in front of the room is merely a guide. Go with what your body tells you or in other words, pain is not necessary in order to move. As your body warms up and gets used with the movements, it will allow you to have a wider range in movements.

Class duration 1:15-1:30 minutes

Class is designed as a whole body engagement: body movement, spiritual connection with your body(being grateful to your body/creating a safe container ), Sound(as modality of vibration).

Tools needed for the class: a quiet space, yoga mat and water.
